Goodbye to The Book Club

I was so sorry to hear that ABC TV’s wonderful book discussion program, The Book Club, is coming to an end after 11 great years, with the last episode airing in Australia this Tuesday 19 December at 8.30pm. It was an honour and a pleasure to be a guest reviewer on the program several times. My big thanks to the show’s marvellous host Jennifer Byrne, and regular panelists Marieke Hardy and Jason Steger for all they did to promote books and reading over the 11 years. Many thanks too for the warm welcome they always gave me.

I even have The Book Club to thank for one of my novels – Lola’s Secret – which came about due to an unlikely combination of Jennifer Byrne’s necklace, a missed flight and an unexpected overnight stay in my homeplace of the Clare Valley of South Australia.
